Makerspace In-Person

Each month the Learning Commons hosts a Makerspace event. Each month provides a different opportunity for attendees to learn a new skillset and become familiar with different technologies available in the Learning Commons. Drop by any time between 2:30 and 4:30 on the second Wednesday of the month, September-November and February-April. Tap into your creative side and leave with your creation! 

This year's events are:

Painting with the Prez 9/12/19 - Join us as our very own Dr. Mosier teaches poured painting on the Health Professions patio (weather permitting).

Get Creative with Cricut 10/10/19 - Join us to create your own vinyl decals for window decals, cups or mugs, or try your hand at creating a canvas print.

T-shirt Transformation 11/14/19 - Join us to design your own T-shirt or canvas bag print and continue learning what our Cricut can do. Please bring your own T-shirt.

Wired for Jewelry 2/13/19 - Back by popular demand; join the Learning Commons team and learn how to make basic jewelry ( bracelets, necklaces, and earrings). 

String It Up 3/12/19 - String art allows you to create a 3D image using wood, nails, and string. Create a design that shows off what you love the most, depicts your personality, or is just something you love.

Upcycled Book Planters 4/9/19 - "If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need."-Cicero In support of Earth Day join Learning Commons staff and members of our faculty as they show you how to upcycle old books to create a unique planter to bring some green to your home!

Dottie Hill

Dottie Hill holds a B.A. in English Literature, B.S. in Elementary Education and a Master of Arts in Education. She has worked for KCKCC since 2013 after 7 years teaching middle school. She manages The Morgue, a mortuary science database unique to KCKCC, assists students and processes library materials. She cohosts the monthly Death Cafe, Makerspace events, and manages the Learning Commons social media pages. Feel free to stop by or call if you need help locating specific items.
